Barnaby Druthers Live Performance Nov 17th
The acclaimed radio programs Nutmeg Junction/Barnaby Druthers that are broadcast on 29 stations in 15 US states and internationally in Canada and New Zealand will come alive on stage to benefit the Litchfield Community Center on Wednesday, November 17th at 7pm.
Nutmeg Junction was formed in northwest Connecticut to produce audio theater specifically for community radio. Nutmeg Junction began airing on WAPJ in Torrington and WHDD and the Robin Hood Radio Network in Sharon in 2018. Featuring an assortment of comedic, serious and thought-provoking original radio dramas befitting their homage to the golden age of radio, the anthology program was picked up by stations across the country especially when the character Barnaby Druthers ran in his own series in 2020.
Barnaby Druthers is a bumbling private investigator who believes he is the intellectual heir to Sherlock Holmes. He isn't. Fortunately for Barnaby, Irene Adler is his intellectual partner who conducts the investigations. "Classic Druthers" stories take place in Victorian England and "Modern Druthers' stories take place in modern day America.
The Nutmeg Junction/Barnaby Druthers live audio theater performance at the Litchfield Community Center will feature short original skits followed by a full Barnaby Druthers episode. As a pre-recorded radio program, Nutmeg Junction rarely performs on stage. Nutmeg Junction performed in December 2018 as part of Patricia Martin's SpeakEasy event in Torrington, the group performed a live show in Falls Village in April 2019 and performed within a benefit in Cornwall in the fall of 2019. This rare opportunity to enjoy their performance in Litchfield this November is made even more significant as it will be the first time a Barnaby Druthers story will be told from the stage.
Masks must be worn indoors during the show. The event is free and open to the public. 100% of donations that are gratefully accepted will benefit the Litchfield Community Center.
