“Sonny” Levine was the general manager of WLPZ in Leominster, Massachusetts. WLPZ was the 9th radio station to air Nutmeg Junction, the program from which the Barnaby Druthers program originated. Barnaby Druthers stories aired on WPLZ for the listeners in Leominster, MA

He was fiercely loyal to his community and to the radio station that served that community. At his request, we at Nutmeg Junction created an episode dedicated to the community of Leominster. Sonny founded the Leominster Concert Series and ran it for over a decade.

In his obituary it is stated he served his country in the United States Army and the Army Reserves ,served two tours in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal with other commendations. The obiturary can be found here

I had the pleasure of meeting Sonny in 2019 when I visited Leominster and he kindly provided a tour of the station and every month since Nutmeg Junction joined the schedule of WLPZ, he was my contact in sending the episodes to the station.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Carol Levine, his children and grandchildren and siblings.
