Notes on Goodnight Selene, My Love

“Goodnight Selene, My Love” short story (15 min approx) holds a mirror to the Harper Thorne short story “Curse of Sallowe Manor” that was shared last week. Both short stories are solo adventures involving only two parties, the protagonist and antagonist and a knock at the door on a moonlit night.

This story has now been released with the original title (Goodnight) but during the time of recording, I intended the title to be “Goodbye Selene, My Love” because i envisioned these would be the last words of Lord Mayton (Endymion). “Goodbye” has the proper finality to it, but when asking Devon to record the credits, I asked her to record the title as “Goodnight” and therefore that’s where we will land forever and anon. Come to think of it, “Forever and Anon” would make a great title to a Druthers story too, so watch this space :)

There’s more I want to do with astronomy in this time period, so most likely the Endymion telescope will come back in another adventure.

The Keats poem “Endymion” is referenced and quoted in the story as is Homer. As the Keats poem is in the public domain, I recorded a narration of the poem to add to the radio program.

We will certainly get back to the Case of the Five Buttons but we may do a few more short standalone stories but the Case of the Five Buttons will conclude by the end of March, consistent with the 2023 plan.
